Interlibrary Loan (ILL) via ILLiad is offered to York College faculty, staff, and currently-enrolled students.

Items that may NOT be requested via ILL

  1. Textbooks - because they are generally in high demand at their home institutions, requests for textbooks will not be processed.
  2. Reference books.
  3. Media (DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs, videotapes, etc).
  4. Books owned by CUNY - request them through CLICS.
  5. Articles available from York College's electronic resources.

Borrowing Limits

  1. For books, students are limited to requesting no more than seven (7) Interlibrary Loan books under their account at a time, as per the Circulation and Reserve Services policy.
  2. Faculty and staff may request up to ten (10) Interlibrary Loan books under their account at a time.
  3. There is currently no limit on the number of artices that one can request. Copyright guidelines govern the number of requests that the same person can make from the same journal.
  4. Interlibrary Loan operations in the York College Library are essentially a one-person operation, so your patience is appreciated.

To Request Books:

  1. Check OneSearch to see if the book is in the CUNY library system. If the book is owned by another CUNY library, request via CLICS
  2. If the book is not owned by a CUNY library, request via ILLiad
  3. If all CUNY book copies are checked out, on reserve, or unavailable, request via ILLiad

To Request Articles:

  1. Use ILLiad to request copies of articles you cannot access through York's full-text databases, print journals, or microfilm collection.
  2. When searching a database, click on the Find It! button for online, print, and ILL options
  3. Do not request an ILL if a journal (vol. & year) is available at York. Check the E-Journals by title or subject link on the library home page to make sure that the journal you need is not in any of our full-text databases. Check OneSearch or the black binders to see if we have it in print or on microfilm.
